Mechanical engineer by day…

Airbrush artist by night.

I’ve always been interested in art and in motorsports. I made several drawings of my favorite F1 cars while growing up. At one point I had aspirations to be an automotive designer and drew countless “prototype” cars. At 14 years old, I had a conversation with Bob Wallace (of Lamborghini fame) who urged me to follow the path of Gian Paolo Dallara and get a degree in mechanical engineering. While I never worked for the famed Italian marques of my childhood dreams, I always remained fascinated with automotive design and art.

While I was familiar with the airbrush to paint scale models, I never tried to make illustrations using one. After discovering famed airbrush artist Dru Blair and his photorealism style, I wanted to try it myself. After several years of the idea germinating in my head, I finally took one of Dru’s workshops and fell in love with this style of painting.

Today, I use an Iwata Custom Micron Takumi dual-action airbrush. I’ve modified it slightly with Dru Blair’s soft spring and low-rider trigger. I have also changed to a smaller side-mounted paint cup. After some experimentation, I now prefer to use Createx Illustration Colors acrylic airbrush paints and the Blair synthetic paper.

Keep checking back for updates as I add more paintings, and let me know what subjects you’d like to see in the future.

Happy painting!
